Golden Dawn Expedition

Whispers of the plains

Safari Overview

This 10-day family safari is a soulful journey through Northern Tanzania, blending the thrill of the “Big Five” with meaningful cultural connections and moments of deep stillness. It is designed to be educational for children and restorative for adults.

Day 1: Arrival & The Arusha Welcome

Meet your guide at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to your lodge in Arusha.

Settle in and shake off the travel fatigue. This is a day for the family to adjust to the new time zone and the sights of Tanzania.

Day 2: Briefing & Tarangire’s Giants
  • Morning: A full safari briefing at the lodge. Your guide will explain the “Rules of the Bush” and the plan for the days ahead.

Drive to Tarangire National Park for an afternoon drive.

A hot lunch at the lodge before we enter the park to see the massive herds of elephants.

Accommodation: A luxury tented camp inside Tarangire, where you can hear elephants feeding on the trees nearby at night.

Day 3: Culture & The Baobab Plains

Morning game drive followed by a cultural experience visiting a local village to learn about traditional life and education in the bush.

A picnic lunch somewhere in the park under a centuries-old Baobab tree.

  • Tranquility: In the late afternoon, enjoy your first 30-minute Tranquility Experience. We park the vehicle in a safe, scenic clearing and sit in silence to absorb the sounds of the African wilderness.

Accommodation: Luxury tented camp (Inner Tarangire).

Day 4: To the Ngorongoro Highlands

Transit toward the highlands. En route, we visit a local coffee farm or community project.

A hot lunch at a lodge in the Karatu highlands.

Accommodation: A luxury lodge situated on the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, offering a breathtaking view of the sunset over the caldera.

Day 5: Ngorongoro – The Natural Arena

A full day on the Crater floor. This is the best place for children to spot the rare Black Rhino and dense prides of lions.

A picnic lunch somewhere in the park by the hippo pool.

Accommodation: Luxury lodge (Crater Rim).

Day 6: Olduvai Gorge & The Cradle of Mankind

Journey toward the Serengeti with a stop at Olduvai Gorge. Explore the museum and the site where early human footprints were found—a powerful history lesson for the whole family.

A picnic lunch overlooking the prehistoric gorge.

Accommodation: A luxury mobile tented camp in the Central Serengeti.

Day 7: Central Serengeti – Balloon & Rocks

Hot Air Balloon Experience at dawn. Drift silently over the Serengeti as the sun rises, followed by a bush breakfast.

  • Tranquility: In the afternoon, we spend 30 minutes under a lone Acacia tree in the middle of the plains, practicing “presence” while watching the horizon.

A hot lunch at the camp.

Accommodation: Luxury tented camp (Central Serengeti).

Day 8: Eastern Serengeti the Namiri Plains

Drive east into the remote Namiri Plains. This area was a cheetah sanctuary for 20 years and offers unparalleled big cat sightings with almost no other vehicles around.

A picnic lunch en route to explore the eastern kopjes.

Accommodation: An ultra-luxury tented camp in the Namiri Plains.

Day 9: Namiri Cheetahs & Kopjes

A full day tracking the high-speed cheetahs and resident lions of the eastern Serengeti.

Tranquility: A 30-minute session on top of a safe granite Kopje (rock), looking out over the endless golden grass in silence.

A hot lunch at the camp to escape the midday sun.

Accommodation: Luxury tented camp (Namiri Plains).

Day 10: Final Sunrise & Departure

A final “farewell” dawn game drive to catch the last moments of wild beauty.

Mid-morning transfer to the local airstrip for your bush flight back to Arusha.

A farewell lunch in Arusha before your international flight home.

Why this Family Path Works:

Namiri Plains: Offers a sense of exclusive “wildness” that is hard to find in more crowded areas.

Tranquility Sessions: These short breaks help the family (especially children) connect emotionally with nature beyond just “ticking off” animals.

Educational Depth: Combining Olduvai Gorge with cultural visits makes the trip more than just a holiday it’s a life-changing learning experience.
