About Us

We Are Golden Dawn Expedition

Who we are?

Born in the heart of Tanzania’s wild landscapes, Golden Dawn Expedition is more than a safari company it’s a movement of storytellers, guides, and dreamers who believe in the power of nature to inspire, heal, and connect.

With over a decade of guiding experience in Tanzania’s parks, we’ve learned that the most unforgettable moments aren’t just seen, they’re felt. We specialize in capturing wildlife encounters that go beyond the snapshot, blending deep knowledge of animal behavior, landscapes, and light to create immersive, story driven experiences.

“We Are Creating Memories Through Lens. Capture the magic of the wild with guided photography tours.”

OUR STORY

The name Golden Dawn Expedition was born from the rhythm of Africa’s mornings. At first light, the horizon glows in hues of amber and gold. It is here, at the meeting of earth and sky, that every story begins

The words Golden Dawn symbolize the rising sun, a promise of life renewed each day. The bold line drawn beneath those words is not just design; it is the horizon itself. It represents the boundary where dreams meet reality, where journeys begin, and where travelers stand in awe, facing the awakening land.

And the word Expedition, resting beneath that horizon, speaks of those people, the wanderers, the seekers, the storytellers who choose to stand before the rising light and step into the wilderness. It is not just about travel, but about belonging to the great story written by Africa each dawn.

get to know us

Golden Dawn Expedition carries this meaning in every journey we create. It was founded by Hatibu Ulotu, one of the most respected guide in the country, a son of Kilimanjaro, whose own life has always been framed by horizons first as a child growing up in the foothills of the mountain, later as a schoolteacher shaping the futures of children, and finally as a safari guide leading travelers into the wild.

Hatibu received intensive training in wildlife and hospitality from respected colleges and institutions, equipping him with both knowledge and professionalism. With over a decade of guiding experience, he has become a true wanderer of the African wilderness from the endless plains of the Serengeti to the ancient caldera of Ngorongoro, the elephant kingdom of Tarangire, the lush beauty of Manyara, and the vast landscapes of Kenya.

Before he ever held a camera or guided a safari, he served as a school teacher, driven by a passion for education and sharing knowledge. But the call of the wild was always present. That calling eventually led him to trade the classroom for the open savanna, beginning a new chapter as a professional safari guide.

Over the years, he trained intensively, earning certifications and gaining field experience across Tanzania’s national parks and reserves. With time, he became not just a guide, but a trusted safari planner and wildlife expert, helping travelers from around the world experience the magic of Africa.

With a background in tourism, Hatibu Ulotu built the company on values of authenticity, sustainability, and cultural respect. Today, Golden Dawn Expedition curates safaris and adventures across East Africa, blending luxury with local insight, and turning every trip into a story worth telling.

As a passionate wildlife photographer, he now combines his guiding expertise with his love for storytelling through the lens. Every trip is designed to offer more than just a safari, it’s a chance to connect with nature, culture, and self.

With decades of experience in the field, he now mentors aspiring photographers, travelers, and nature lovers, helping them capture unforgettable moments in the wild, just as he has throughout his life.
His experience allows him not only to guide but to design itineraries that bring dreams alive knowing where the perfect light falls for a photograph, where a hidden herd might appear, and how to turn every safari into an unforgettable memory.

We believe safaris are more than game drives. They are living stories of the Earth. Every journey is shaped not just by wildlife sightings, but by moments of silence under an acacia tree, by the rhythm of wildebeest migrations, and by the traditions of the people who call this land home.

Our philosophy is simple: to guide with respect, to protect with purpose, and to share with wonder.

Africa’s future depends on its people as much as its wildlife. For Hatibu, this truth is deeply personal. Before becoming a guide, he spent five years as a schoolteacher, standing before children in his community with chalk in hand and hope in his heart.

Today, with over a decade of guiding experience, he carries that same passion into his conservation and community work. Hatibu understands the challenges students face in rural Africa from limited resources to a lack of exposure to the wider world.

That is why Golden Dawn Expedition actively supports local schools, providing tools, opportunities, and hope to make it easier for African students to meet their world. Every guest who travels with us contributes to this vision helping shape a future where children in these communities can dream beyond their horizons, just as the sun rises beyond the plains.

• Founder’s Expertise, Hatibu has guided for over a decade, trained in both wildlife and hospitality, and knows Tanzania and Kenya’s parks intimately. He understands where to capture the best photographs, when to find the most extraordinary encounters, and how to craft itineraries that turn dreams into reality.
• Journeys designed for intimate encounters with wildlife.
• Accommodations that blend comfort with wilderness authenticity.
• Experiences that respect local traditions while supporting communities.
• A promise of stories that linger long after the safari ends.
